Other than bundling up and playing through the snow, there are ways to keep up with golf during the winter. Keep reading for suggestions on your golf game in winter.
Playing Golf Indoors
In many areas there are indoor locations in which you can practice. Some places have indoor driving ranges. While you cannot hit the ball as far as you can outside, indoor driving ranges are a great way to practice your swing.
Some indoor facilities also have areas to practice chipping and putting. You can try different distances to chip from to continue working on your short game during the winter. Spending time using your putter is always valuable. Putting from all areas around the hole is a great way to work on finishing out a hole.
When bringing your clubs back and forth to the indoor locations, do not forget to protect them. Putter headcovers are essential to ensure your putter remains scratch-free.
Practice at Home
In front of your mirrors, you can practice your swing. Full-length mirrors will let you watch your swings. You can try this with all your clubs. When you do practice your swing, be sure to all focus on your follow through. Use your Smartphone to take videos to further examine your swing.
Workout
While it is not playing golf, physical exercise is an important element to improving your game. A mix of weights and cardiovascular workouts should be planned. Exercises to strengthen your core should be added to your repertoire at the gym.
Equipment Checks
Winter is a great time to clean out your golf bag. Take stock of your clubs and what condition they are in. Check to see if your clubs need new grips; winter is a great time to spruce up your clubs. Do not forget to put on your putter headcovers and all your golf club covers.
